About the Trainer

alt Lisa Marino, CPDT-KA, ABCDT, CATT, CTDI, and Pat Miller Affilate Trainer has 22+ years teaching middle school Spanish and English Literature. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and Spanish from UW-Madison, Madison, WI and a Master’s Degree in Education.

She has spent much time studying the concepts of Brain Based Learning and Motivation from Eric Jensen, an expert in educational neuroscience, to understand the science behind how students learn.

She also has 16+ years teaching group exercise classes in aerobics, yoga, kickboxing, martial arts, and has earned her ACE Group Exercise Instructor Certificate and Yoga Alliance RYT-200 registration.

More recently, Lisa has taken her varied teaching experiences and applied them to helping owners understand and train their beloved four-legged family members. She has more than four years’ experience leading group dog training classes at Best Paw Forward in Hartland, WI, and opened Head of the Class Dog Training LLC in 2012.

As a graduate of Animal Behavior College, Lisa is looking forward to continuing helping families have well behaved, well adjusted, happy family pets. In addition to on the job training and work with the ABC, she has attended seminars by world renown positive method trainers such as Dr. Ian Dunbar, Pat Miller, Ken Ramirez and Patricia McConnell, and has continued her studies on modern state of the art science based training with many books and videos.

Lisa is a graduate of Animal Behavior College, a Professional Level member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) a member of the Pet Professional Guild, and is a Certified AKC evaluator for CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and Star Puppy. She is also a registered C.L.A.S.S. instructor and evaluator for the Canine Life and Social Skills “My Dog Has C.L.A.S.S. program” and is able to administer C.L.A.S.S. tests for you and your dog. She is also a registered Delta / Pet Partners Team Therapy Dog Instructor. Most recently, she has earnerd her certification for Treibball and Trick Dog instruction.

Lisa has three registered Delta Therapy dogs who have earned their AKC Titles in Therapy work. With her dogs, she has created 3 Read to Rover programs at libraries to combine her passion for helping well-mannered dogs become welcome in public and helping children develop a love of reading, and help them learn reading skills.
